Karen Gould

Karen Gould is a distinguished thought leader, mentor, and advisor known for her entrepreneurial spirit and growth mindset. With extensive experience as a corporate and nonprofit director, senior executive, and technology investor, she has established herself as a systems thinker and a catalyst for creativity and innovation. Her expertise lies in adaptive leadership, creating shareholder value through collaboration, driving culture change, and developing sustainable global business practices, particularly in the field of infrastructure, which includes technology, communications, and construction.

Karen Gould currently holds several significant roles, including Director at Gil-Bar Industries, which is backed by Intermediate Capital Group, PLC. She is also a Board Observer representing Golden Seeds Venture Fund for Chromatic 3D Materials and an Independent director for REV Renewables, a leader in renewable power generation and energy storage facilities.

Throughout her career, Karen has been an active board member, often assuming leadership positions, including board chairman. She has served on various board committees, including audit, nominating, governance, and compensation. Her notable board experience includes roles at Orbcomm Inc. (NASDAQ: ORBC) and Turner Construction Company & affiliates. Earlier in her career, she served as a board member for Puretracks Inc. in Canada and Bell Communications Research (Bellcore).

Karen Gould currently serves as the CEO and founder of Gould Consulting Group. In this capacity, she provides strategic guidance to boards and the C-suite and offers coaching and mentoring to executives on matters related to strategy, ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) integration, and leadership and organizational development. Additionally, she holds the position of Managing Director at Golden Seeds, an early-stage investment firm that champions gender diversity and equitable access to capital for women. In this role, she has conducted due diligence and made investments in eight technology companies, including leading a $5 million Series B investment in Chromatic 3D Materials.

In her prior position, Ms. Gould served as the Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, and Board Member at Turner Construction Company. During her tenure, she led strategic initiatives that transformed the company’s culture, improved cash flow, tripled earnings, and scaled revenue from $8 billion to $16 billion. Her responsibilities included overseeing Finance, IT, cybersecurity, risk management, insurance, communications, and marketing, managing a staff of approximately 600. She was also instrumental in leading business continuity planning and execution during the challenges of 2020, contributing to the development of industry-leading response protocols for pandemic, civil unrest, systemic racism, and cybersecurity attacks. Furthermore, Karen spearheaded Turner’s digital transformation, establishing business intelligence capabilities and enhancing operational efficiencies.

Earlier in her career, Ms. Gould held senior positions at Bell Canada and AT&T Corporation, including roles as Financial Vice President and CFO at AT&T Long Distance Services. She also served as CFO and Vice President of Administration at SaaS pioneer CenterPost Communications and held positions as Vice President of Finance and CFO for Enterprise Business Services and Director of Treasury at Ameritech.

Karen Gould holds an M.B.A. with Honors in Finance, Strategy, and International Business from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Finance from Indiana University Kelley School of Business. Her commitment to community involvement is evident through her active participation on the Advisory Board and Real Estate Executive Committee for the Anti-Defamation League in New York and New Jersey. She also serves on the CFO Advisory Board for the University of Chicago Booth, where she occasionally acts as a guest lecturer.
