Garrett Vargas

Garrett Vargas is the Group Engineering Manager at Microsoft.
In the past, he served as the Co-Founder & CTO of LegUp. a company focused on keeping working parents in the workforce by helping them find and enroll in quality care for their children.

Prior to LegUp, Vargas was theĀ VP of Technology and CTO of CarRentals.com, part of the Expedia Group. CarRentals.com is one of the leading global online travel agencies serving car rentals to leisure travelers. Before CarRentals.com, Vargas led several technology teams at Expedia Group including the Vacation Packages team for the Expedia brand, external partner APIs, and the Rails and Cars lines of business. Prior to joining Expedia Group, he led several different development teams at Microsoft Corporation, ranging from teams working on various components of Windows Phone to incubation projects in the Windows Emerging Markets team prototyping solutions to deliver value-added services to licensed versions of Windows in developing markets.

Vargas is an active Startup advisor and angel investor, primarily focusing on companies in the emerging voice technology space and marketplaces. In this capacity, he has helped with initial product/market fit, business strategy, technical design and architectural review, and initial implementations.

Vargas holds an M.B.A. from the University of Washington Foster School of Business. He also has an M.Sc. degree in Computer Science from Stanford University and B.S. degreesĀ in Mathematics and Computer Systems Engineering from Stanford.
