Curriculum
To earn your MS in Management with Concentration in STL, you must complete 30 credit hours— composed of a total of 12 course credits, 9 experiential project and residency credits, and 9 elective credits.
Core Courses
The STL Concentration consists of 5 core courses, one from each required competency area: Managing Organizations, Data-Driven Management, Strategy and Growth, and Finance and Operations. Courses include:
- Strategic Advocacy and Global Leadership
- Data Mining and Machine Learning for Business
- Digital Strategy and Competing in Dynamic, Innovation-Driven Markets
- Driving and Managing Performance
- Technology and the Law
Elective Credits
For your 6 elective credits, you’ll choose courses based on a list of timely innovation topics, which include:
- Analytics
- Cybersecurity
- Sustainability
- Metaverse
- Entrepreneurship

Residencies
Our executive residencies are designed to help you deepen your knowledge of market and technology dynamics, product realization, strategic planning and marketing, and operations management. The program requires participation in three on-ground residencies: Two in the Northeastern Global Network and one in Boston (the final in-person experience before the degree conferral).
Each residency is four days in length. Residency locations leverage the Northeastern Global Network of campuses: San Francisco, Seattle, and London. Please note that you are required to pay your own travel and hotel accommodation expenses for each residency as they are not included in the program fee.
Residencies include:
- Residency 1: Strategic Disruption Camp [1 credit]
- Residency 2: Innovation Leaders Studio [1 credit]
- Residency 3: Executive Operations Summit [1 credit]
Integrated and Applied Technology Leadership Project
The six-credit integrated and applied project spans the duration of your studies and is directly applicable to your professional role. The project will be assigned and evaluated by an advisory committee, consisting of a DMSB faculty member, an outside mentor, and a company representative. Three credits will be assigned throughout the duration of your project, based on your progress, and another three credits will be awarded upon successful completion of the project.
Mentorship
You’ll be assigned an executive mentor who will offer support and critiques as you work on your applied project. Meetings with your mentor will simulate the real-world experience of developing complex solutions with a senior colleague. during each phase of the project, your mentor will provide feedback that will be factored into your grade.

The MSx with Concentration in STL is designed for directors and senior managers with aspirations toward a C-suite level position, as well as business leaders who are interested in starting or managing their own company.
