Karen Higgins-Carter

Karen Higgins-Carter currently holds the position of Executive Vice President and Chief Information and Digital Officer at Gilbane Building Company, one of the largest privately-held real estate development and construction firms. In this role, she is entrusted with optimizing the value of innovation, digital technologies, analytics, AI, and overseeing technology and cybersecurity.

Furthermore, she serves as an Independent Director at OPDC | OAPI for Otsuka Pharmaceutical Companies (U.S.).

Previously, Higgins-Carter was the EVP and CIO of Webster Financial Corporation (NYSE: WBS) and Webster Bank, where she joined in July 2018. 

Before her time at Webster, she served as the Managing Director and Head of the Office of the Chief Information and Operations Officer for the Americas at Mitsubishi UFJ (MUFG) Financial Group. In this capacity, she was responsible for the development and execution of the company’s IT strategic plan, IT governance, information risk management, communications, employee development, and engagement. Prior to that, she held roles as the Technology General Manager at Bridgewater Associates and the Managing Director and Head of Consumer Risk Technology at JP Morgan Chase. Her career also included progressively increasing responsibilities at General Electric Corporation, including GE Capital and GE Commercial Finance. She commenced her professional journey at Accenture, where she collaborated with clients to launch emerging technologies in the telecommunications industry.

Higgins-Carter holds a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering and a B.A. in Economics and Business, both obtained from Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania.
