Ken Haertling

Ken Haertling currently holds the role of Senior Vice President (SVP), Global Cybersecurity at Las Vegas Sands. With a diverse and accomplished background in cybersecurity and telecommunications, Ken’s career began in the US Air Force as a Network Engineer, where they played a crucial role in establishing computer networks and leading network enhancement projects. Subsequently, Ken served as the Executive Officer at the Air Force Information Warfare Center, providing essential support to the Commander and overseeing organizational initiatives. Notably, they also led a Computer Emergency Response Team responsible for intrusion detection and incident response at various Air Force bases.

Following their military service, Ken transitioned to Level 3 Communications, taking on various roles such as Senior Manager of Information Assurance, Senior Manager of Security Architecture & Engineering, Director of Security Operations, and Vice President of Network Operations. In these capacities, Ken was responsible for managing security specialists.

Ken further advanced their career by joining TELUS as Vice President and Chief Security Officer, where they had comprehensive oversight of internal security, including physical security, network security, and information technology security. Additionally, they directed TELUS’ telecommunications and IT services security operations center (SOC).

In their most recent role, Ken Haertling served as the Senior Vice President of Global Cybersecurity at Las Vegas Sands Corp, where they had overarching responsibility for the company’s cybersecurity efforts.

Throughout their career, Ken Haertling consistently demonstrated exceptional expertise in cybersecurity, telecommunications, and network operations.

Ken Haertling’s educational journey is equally impressive. They earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Operations Research from the United States Air Force Academy between 1988 and 1992. Subsequently, from 1995 to 1997, they completed a Master of Science in Operations Analysis from the United States Air Force Institute of Technology. Their dedication to education continued as they pursued an MBA in Information Systems, starting at The University of Texas in San Antonio in 1998 and successfully completing it in 2000. Ken Haertling’s professional qualifications also include holding a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification from (ISC)², which they obtained in March 2013.
