Mark Barnard

With a long career at Blue Cross Blue Shield, Mark Barnard currently is the Senior Vice President of Service for Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey. Prior to this roll, Mr. Barnard was the President and Chief Executive Officer of National Account Service Company, an Atlanta-based IT infrastructure provider dedicated to claims processing for Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans nationwide. Mr. Barnard also spent 16 years with Electronic Data Systems, where he was ultimately responsible for overseeing all electronic data systems operations for various Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans across the nation. In addition, as Vice President at The MEDSTAT Group, he had responsibility for client services and product development.
Mr. Barnard holds a B.S. in Mathematics Education from Michigan State University. Prior to his career in health care, he taught mathematics at the high school level and coached wrestling. Active in community affairs, Mr. Barnard serves on the boards of directors of several nonprofit groups, and is an active volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, nationally and internationally, and for the Boy Scouts of America.
